Q: Finals are coming up, but I can’t stop procrastinating! I was on Facebook for nearly 3 hours. What should I do to focus? A: You’re not alone on this one. This is a very common thing that happens to all of us in our everyday live - to teachers as well, believe it or not. There are several different ways to overcome procrastination. First, make up a mental list of your own rewards. For instance, tell yourself that you will get a 10 minute break after you’ve completed a certain task. Second, ask someone else to check up on your progress. Though intimidating, peer-pressure is effective. Lastly, identify the unpleasant consequences of NOT doing the tasks that you were supposed to. This way, you’ll snap out of procrastination and start realising that you really should complete your tasks. I’m glad to hear that you’re aware of the fact that you’re procrastinating. Although everyone has their own way of dealing with procrastination, I personally think the best way to stop procrastinating is to make a list of your rewards, and promising yourself to a treat afterwards. Q: How should I do well on finals? A: Hmmm, that’s probably a concern that every CDS students as well as all human beings has had at least once in their lives. As a student myself, I think you should just bury yourself into your textbooks and study, study, study! Studying is something that you can never put an end to. As Caleb Kim once said, “Life is a Great Depression,” and with that in mind, good luck! Q: How should I express my affection to this person that I like? A: Pepero Day is coming up as well as Christmas and New Year’s, so there’s a huge hint for you! Q: The Basketball season tryouts are coming up. What should I do to get into the Basketball team? A: As a huge fan of sports myself, I honestly think practicing is key. Grab a basketball and practice at least 30 minutes every other day. But if you're really desperate and you know you want to push yourself, try practicing 40 minutes everyday. Watch tutorial videos on Youtube that guides you through the correct ways of ball handling, dribbling, passing, and shooting. There’s plenty of small exercises you can find on the web, so take advantages of those. However, in every tryout, there is always a stamina test to check your physical strengths. To improve your stamina, there is a few different ways to do so, but I advise you to do one thing, and one thing only - hit the gym. I would have advised you to run around the neighbourhood for at least 30 minutes on a daily basis, but it’s getting cold, so hit the treadmills at a nearby gym. Try some dumbbells or squats to build your muscles and exercise those flabby arms! I hope this somewhat answered your question, but remember that I cannot help you get into the team, only you can. So get yourself into shape and work those muscles! |
