This term’s Interviewee is Joshua Kim from the Senior year who will be graduating in a few weeks time. Joshua has been a member of CDS for the past four years of high school and has had the honor to achieve the title of Valedictorian of the Class of 2016.
Q: How do you feel about graduating?
A: Good question. I never knew that this day would come… It actually feels great but at the same time not so great. What I mean by that is graduating will mean that I have to do more work, so I would have to work harder in general. Still, I am a step closer to achieving my life goals.
Q: Life Goals? What Life Goals?
A: I really don’t know. But, I think that there will be something special for me, a dream that I will be able to achieve. I believe that college is the first step to achieving my goals. When I was young (middle school) I wanted to get a Nobel Prize but who knows? It’s a big dream that I would like to achieve.
Q: With that, can I infer that you are looking forward to University?
A: The Class of 2015 and many of the people I know tell me that University is the golden time of your life so I will take their word for it. They say it is a lot better than high school and I really hope that is true. In general, you could say that I am looking forward to University.
Q: Moving on to your Valedictorian honor, how do you feel about it? Did you expect it yourself?
A: People say that the Valedictorian is a great honor but I honestly don’t know if it is a great honor. The only thing special about Valedictorian is the speech during graduation, but as you can see, I am not the best speaker in the world. Did I expect it? I honestly didn’t expect the Valedictorian prize. I was very surprised that it was me.
Q: How do you remember your Valedictorian high school life?
A: I think that high school is the same as any other schools you go to. School is a place to play with friends and to work hard on your studies. I don’t think there was something special during high school.
Q: Even if it wasn’t special, is there a best moment of your high school life?
A: I think the best moments of my high school life would be hanging out with friends and playing basketball with everyone including the freshmen, sophomores, juniors and the seniors.
Q: Then what was the worst moment of your high school life?
A: I think the workload was huge. The tests were really stressful and all the times where I couldn’t play, it would be the worst moments of my high school life.
Q: Lastly, what would be your tips to your “Successors” on high school?
A: Study hard, listen to your teachers, and one very important thing, don’t procrastinate any of your work. That would be the last thing you want to do. Final words for my successors will be, study hard!
