Cheongna Dalton School held its annual Valentine’s Day party hosted by the Student Council on the 11th of February. This is the interview with Minah Kim (11) who went to the party.
Q. Before going to the party, what was your expectation? What was it like in reality?
A. Before the Valentine’s Day party, I felt that too less people would come to enjoy the event. I tried to convince my friends to come, but they said the party seemed like it was just for the actual couples. I believe the reality was quite the same as it was expected. Since the game scores were only recorded for actual “boy-girl” couple, I was able to understand what my friends meant by their expectation of the party.
Q. What was the overall mood of the party like?
A. The whole event felt unsettled at first. But as the time passed, we were given different games to play, and I could see that people were enjoying the games. The overall mood at the end was quite enthusiastic.
Q. What was the most enjoyable activity and why?
A. Every moment was enjoyable, but to pick one, I would choose the dance party. Even though some of the song choices were not very good, I enjoyed the fact that I could just dance around with my friends.
Q. What do you think needs to be improved/changed for the next Valentine’s Day party?
A. Girl-girl and boy-boy couples were not considered when adding up the scores and determining the game winners. I think for the next party, they should allow every couple to be “actually” involved in the games, too since not everyone has an “opposite-gender” partner. Also, many of the girls were wearing high-heels and skirts, or dresses, and there were games where they had to pick up balls and do actions that required physical work a lot. We also had to walk the stairs up and down between the first and third floors. There were some injuries because of this and I think this fact should be taken into consideration next time.
Q. Would you be willing to come to next year’s Valentine’s Day party?
A. Yes, if the improvements are made according to the students’ review or comments of the party. But I think the Student Council will surely listen to the students and be able to make an even greater Valentine’s Day party next year.
