Finally, spring has come, where the year begins and flowers bloom. Spring has been an exciting season for many reasons. We either go watch some cherry blossoms with our loved ones or we prepare for tests. Whilst being one of the most beautiful seasons of all, it can also be stressful, especially if you are a student with several big exams coming up soon or someone who’s got college applications to worry about. However, there is a way to settle things down. Do not panic, sit down, and get a cup of tea.
Citron tea, also known as yujacha in Korean, has been one of the most popular teas in spring especially in Korea. Citron tea is mainly made from citrus fruit, yuzu. Citrus attributes to sour and bitter taste of it. On top of citrus, either syrup or some sugar is added so that the tea does not become overly sour. People drink yujacha because it is a good balance of sweetness and soury tastes.
Not only does yujacha’s taste attractive, but it is very nutritional as well. Citrus, the main component of yujacha, contain plenty of vitamin c, and this helps to boost our immune system, preventing us from getting some diseases, and so forth. Additionally, one of the reason why yujacha is so famous especially in spring is because of how it can help us fight cold. While spring isn’t the coldest season of all, there are still ‘spring colds’, where the temperature would significantly drop during the spring season. This often catches people off-guard, and that is why many people manage to catch cold especially in spring. Yujacha is generally good for treating common cold, and it also helps relieve sore throats.
Spring has come, and it would be a waste if we spend all of our time studying. Why don’t you sit down for a moment, forget about what lies ahead, and have a cup of tea. That will refresh you and enable you to find some inner peace in this fast-paced world. Keep calm and drink tea!
