Do you like watching films produced by the Walt Disney Animation Studio? Are you into action and adventure packed animated movies? Did you enjoy watching movies like Kung Fu Panda 3, Inside Out, and Frozen? Then, Zootopia is the right movie for you!
“Zootopia is a strikingly blunt and unrelentingly committed race relations parable hidden inside a big-hearted comedy set in a world of anthropomorphized animals” (Scott Mendelson [Forbes]).
“This film, action-packed and filled with enough savvy jokes that adults should consider slipping into the theater even if they don’t have an accompanying child, is set in a world where animals have transcended the carnivore-and-prey dichotomy and now live together more or less harmoniously” (Neil Genzlinger [The New York Times]).
Zootopia was first released on March 4, 2016 in the United States making a big hit with its launch. Overall, it earned $300 million worldwide, and $100 million in United States alone. Now, let’s get to the actual movie. Zootopia is about approximately one hour and forty-eight minutes long featuring a fox and a rabbit as main characters. These anthropomorphic animals keep the movie humorous while touching at the same time. Ginnifer Goodwin stars as Judy Hopp’s voice, also known as a rabbit who is a rookie cop. Then, there’s Jason Bateman as Nicholas P. "Nick" Wilde, a red fox, who happens to be a con artist. Throughout the movie, these two characters work together uncovering a mysterious case where a number of carnivorous citizens has gone missing.
In my personal opinion, this movie was cute, touching, and funny. Not only were the animated cartoons detailed and colorful, but their voices seemed to match perfectly with the characters. While watching the movie, it seemed as if I was part of the movie and the animals talking was a norm. Overall, it made me feel happy and allowed me to learn the importance of teamwork and friendship.
