On 26th of April, Cheongna Dalton School held another Avengers-themed sports day. Even though the date had been pushed back to Monday due to rain, the weather during Sports Day was perfect. The sun was out in the sky and breeze cooled away the heat. It was a beautiful day, and students and faculty had a great time showing their athletic abilities and bonding with one another.
High school and middle school students were separated into 4 major teams, with 2 minor teams per major team. Students were to dress up as their assigned groups, heroes or villains of the Avengers series. Some students came with green painted all over their body, representing Team Hulk, some came with a bloody smile and white face, representing Team Joker. For those who didn’t have much makeup to represent their teams, they face-painted themselves with the face-paints provided by the student council. Alongside with face-painting booth, student council held many activities such as selling ice cream, throwing water sponges, and eating pie contests. These activities helped students get refreshed throughout the day.
Many sporting events were held throughout the day. From jump ropes to shooting hoops, the PE department organized many events to bond the students together and keep them entertained. After cooperation and hard work, Team Cheongna took home victory. It was a close match against all the other teams as they were behind by only 50 to 100 points.
“It was such a fun day! It gave me a way to take a break off the APs and all the stressful schoolwork. I think this was my favorite sports day,” said Hyemin Chun (10). Students could be seen enjoying themselves, dancing to the music played, and working hard to help their teams win. The 2016 Sports Day turned out to be a huge success, helping students to take a break off schoolwork and have some bonding time with the CDS community.
