On May 28th, the school had a successful prom held at the J.W Marriot hotel, and many people of all grades, with the exception of the freshmen, came to enjoy the prom. Compared to last year’s prom, more people came from outside of the school and there was more grade diversity.
The prom was held on the seventh floor of the hotel, and the whole layout was very fancy with an ice sculpture in the front. The dance floor was huge compared to last year’s and there was a separate room for photo sessions, another room for a buffet, and an outdoor garden with chairs and a fountain. The setup was luxurious and everyone seemed to be taken aback by the luxury and started to take a lot of pictures. According to the student council, unlike last year, there were no tables placed in the room as people refused to dance and only sat throughout the whole prom. I thought that was a great idea as the majority of people danced throughout the whole prom.
There was a photo session for everyone before the dance time started so everyone got a fair chance of getting their picture taken. The DJ was great and had a lot of vibrant music choices that made everyone get up and dance on the dance floor. After the first session was over, a comedian came up to the stage and distributed prizes to people who were willing to participate in games. Numbers were either drawn from a glass bowl or the comedian chose random people and made them compete through ridiculous and funny methods that made everyone laugh. Everyone received some sort of prize and there were a variety of choices for the prizes, from lip balms to speakers, and everyone was pleased with their prizes.
The dance continued and everyone danced for a very long time and some people went outside to just chat and enjoy the view. Towards the end of the prom, Microdot, a famous rapper came and performed for us and our reaction was ecstatic and everyone loved it. In general, there was a huge improvement from last year’s prom and everyone seemed to have enjoyed this event.
